Many years ago I started training in martial arts. As a white belt (beginner), I was placed with those who were
also in the beginning stages of their training. Some of my fellow students were middle aged men & women, some were
men & women in their 20's & 30's and others were teenagers of both genders. I never questioned my teachers WHY
I was with other students of such diverse age and of different gender - I simply understood that we were all beginners.
As I progressed in my training, some of the faces changed but always the same scenario - I was grouped with others that
were within 2 belt ranks of my ranking. Within these various levels, some students were more skilled than others - almost
naturals, so to speak - but we were all focused on similar techniques & training trying to achieve the same goal, Black
Belt.
Once a week the class was open to all levels so that we could observe & learn from each other. Reading &
Writing (literacy) are learned in a similar fashion - however, they're not always taught that way. If your child is
in 4th grade, he/she will receive instruction with materials for that grade level. Unfortunately, your child may be
a white belt receiving black belt training & instruction...and martial arts as well as improving literacy, do not work
that way.
The Suburban Literacy Project will assess where your child is at and provide the instruction necessary for his/her success.
All students enrolling MUST have an orthographic assessment as well as literacy assessments prior to their program being designed.
Assessment pricing will vary according to assessments required as well as reports.
Beyond the assessment, tuition is as follows:
