How did The Suburban Literacy Project develop & why?

Giuls when he was 5-years old

I have spent years as a reading specialist while also holding degrees & certifications in elementary education & special education.  Additionally, I have a child who was diagnosed at the age of 3 - almost 4 years old, with a developmental delay - initially assessed with a "dull-normal range" of IQ - a learning disability (perceptually impaired), language processing disorder & attention deficit hyper activity disorder. Wow, that's a lot to pack into one little guy.  With early intervention & daily intervention on my part, by the time he was 5 1/2, his IQ was tested at borderline gifted...however, that didn't make everything go away nor for his school experience to be "normal" for many years.

Today, at 18, life is a different story.  He & I chose to create a different story  - we were warriors instead of victims.  Much of this credit, I give to my son, Giuliano, who is always a guru to me...a never ending source of enlightenment in so many ways and truly the inspiration behind this project.  Had I not questioned, inquired and searched and had he not accepted, struggled and taught me - neither of us would be where we are.

That being said, I started working on this exciting project which is in its infancy...The Suburban Literacy Project as I would like to help other individuals and their families on their journey to success.

Do not hesitate to email or call should you have further questions...remember, your child is as unique as their handprint.

My Philosophy

It is my intention to offer the most individualized and unique services for the students of the Suburban Literacy Project in order to enhance their academic learning experience, their self-esteem and to support them in a way that is best for an optimal future.

As I value all of my students, as well as their families, my services are offered at times that are mutually convenient for all parties.  Most importantly, in being mindful of the quality & care that each student is given, enrollment in The Suburban Literacy Project will be maintained at a level that ensures the integrity of this program.
